Introduction
The Essential Skills of Negotiation workshop provides training in the fundamental elements of negotiation, and the opportunity to practise their application. The general aim is to give participants sufficient knowledge of structure, process, and core skills to enable them to negotiate competently, and to boost their confidence in the negotiating arena.
Objectives
Following the workshop, participants will be able to:
- Recognise the different phases of negotiation and understand what needs to be achieved in each
- Prepare effectively
- Make appropriate decisions about information exchange
- Bargain successfully
- Resist concession pressure
- Create additional value from negotiations
- Deal with aggressive and emotional negotiators
- Communicate effectively in the negotiation environment
- Identify areas for improvement in their negotiating technique
Duration: 1 day
Who is it for? New to negotiation; and low-level experience
Group size: Minimum 4 people; maximum 20 people.
Teaching method: tutor-instruction, syndicate work and negotiation simulations
